I do not know much about taxes and I don’t know what to claim as expenses, can I claim gas, advertising, supplies, cell phones, business phone, office supplies, milage, running erands in my own car, business vans &up keep,as you see I am completely lost. I really don’t think H&R is going to cut it, should I get a CPA or acountant?
A good CPA usually pays for themself. Just keep track of all of your expenses. I have business credit cards and personal credit cards and I adhere to using them religiously for either business or personal. It’s best to err on the side of safety, especially in your first years of business. Don’t be too liberal when deciding that going to the grocery store in the company van is an expense, it truthfully isn’t. Don’t forget, the formulas that the irs uses will tend to throw up some red flags if you have too many write offs. Best off hiring a CPA and or an attorney to describe and explain to you what is and what isn’t considered a valid write off. Remember, the services of a CPA are, so use one.

Any people that did the expirement The effect of dish cleaner brand on the speed it cleans grease.?
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009if so please explain how they did the expirement. something like the procedures please.
The testing required collecting "oily" residues from a local restaurant for a couple of days. This is the "dirt" that was used in the experiment.
The "oily dirt" was filtered through cheese cloth to remove solids and placed in a shallow pan. A box of microscope slides was then dipped, one slide at a time, into the pan and stood on end to drain.
Several dish pans were filled half way with warm tap water and the recommended amounts of dish washing cleaner was added and mixed well (to point of foaming).
Several slides were dipped into each pan and the times recorded for the "dirt" to be removed from at least part of the slide. Photos were taken.
The extra effort was taking a few dozen dirty slides and "baking" them in an oven at 300 degrees for about 10 or 15 minutes. These were treated like the unbaked slides to see if the cleaner would work.
what is your standards of a clean house?
Monday, December 28th, 2009i was wondering since i am helping my family with spring cleaning (blah)an i was wondering what do you think is clean i am not talking spotless but just a clean house ?
At first glance as long as a house is tidy and smells nice then it is considered to be clean. It is only with closer inspection can someone say if it is truly clean. Some places where I like to check are:
1. The floors, are they vacuumed and washed?
2. The tops of skirting/kick boards, there should never be a layer of dust on these if you are cleaning your house properly.
3. The oven, has it been cleaned recently, if you open it and there is a bad smell or a thick layer of gunge then it needs to be done.
4. The tops of cupboards or picture frames or doorways – these are often forgotten areas as you can’t see them – I hate doing this type of cleaning, usually I do it once a year, around springtime.
5. Inside the cutlery drawer, it is good to take out all the cutlery every couple of months and wash the inside.
6. The windows, another awful job in my opinion, but if the windows haven’t been cleaned then it makes the house look dirty.
Good on you for helping your family, I hope they appreciate your efforts.

What is the best product to use to clean hardwood floors?
Monday, December 28th, 2009I have hardwood floors throughout my house. My dog has started having accidents due to his age. What do I use to clean them that will not destroy the poly/shine finish?
One cup of vinegar to a gallon of warm water is the safest and best way to clean your hardwood floors. The vinegar will also neutralize the urine.
Murphy’s Oil Soap is to be avoided as it does nothing to neutralize the dog urine and leaves a residue that may make a buff and recoat impossible in the future.
Having been the owner of an older dog (Boxer) I have been through this too, hardwood is infinitely easier to clean than carpeting for accidents.^
How do you schedule so you can spend time with your kids?
Monday, December 28th, 2009Just wondering how people do their schedule with cooking, cleaning the house, and other errands and how to fit in time with the kids.
I am currently working part time and also going to school and doing heavy duty house cleaning; I am starting to feel like a bad parent because I feel like I don’t spend enough time with my kids.
I schedule to try to do most of my computer stuff at night while they are sleeping instead of while they are awake to have time with them, if I have college work to do I stay afterwards to get it done so when I come home I can have time with them right away.
Do you have any other ways of scheduling errands around each other so you can have quality time with your children? Have any other suggestions? I want to have time to take my kids places and have fun with them, I don’t care if I have to crunch my schedule as long as I can be a good parent.
You sound like you have a pretty good handle, and you’re doing all you can. My old boss used to shift his entire day forward or backward so he could spend time with his kids before or after school.
Personally, I know it’s difficult to find the time to be with your kids as I work long hours. I think it’s important not how much time you spend with them (as long as it’s not zero time!) but how you spend the time with them. You may feel guilty but I’ve seen plenty of stay-at-home moms who do "remote control" parenting while they sit on the sofa and watch television. You on the other hand seem to be doing things to better yourself and that will ensure a better life for your children in the end.
Perhaps one idea may be not to try and find time every day but to schedule one day a week, or as often as possible, where you can get out with the kids and do something with them where you won’t be distracted. I’m sure they would appreciate that.

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!

Do you have a basset hound and if so how do you keep your house clean?
Monday, December 28th, 2009We have two bassets. They shed SO MUCH! Plus, they are pretty big (ours weigh 80lbs each) and they drool, shed, are basically just filthy beasts. It’s so hard to keep them clean, and so hard to keep the house clean because of them. Any tips?
Vacuum the house, bathe the dogs, use a "shedding mitt".
loved the basset I had…but won’t have another. The constant "basset smell" (something along the lines of feet and corn chips) just about did me in…lol
