These days people are always thinking of being their own boss, and living their life, and running their own business how they want to live, and run them. The problem that normally stops most people is what to do, how to do it, and how much can I make by doing it?

If you are not afraid of hard work, and you want to earn some good money doing a legitimate business, then why not start a commercial cleaning company? Commercial cleaning companies can specialise in the following sectors of cleaning:

Carpet Cleaning

Offer carpet cleaning as part of your business and you wont be short of work, as carpet cleaning if not for only peoples home, but also for small business offices, and even the larger scale businesses need carpet cleaners to come in if there is a spillage of food, drink or print toner on the floor in the office. Once you get work with a company doing their carpet cleaning, as long as you do a good job and your are priced accordingly, then next time they need carpets cleaned you should be the first they call, also look out for referrals too.

Office Cleaning

This is seen as contract work. If you are able to sell your company to a number of small to large local businesses in the area that you operate in, then you would have a great business going forward. Office cleaning is normally seen as at the beginning or end of each day, the cleaning company will go into the office and dust, vacuum, and generally tidy the office area so that it is clean for the day workers. The same service can be tailored to the retail world. Cleaners can and do go to shops and retail outlets and clean the shop ready for the next days work.

End Of Tenancy Cleaning

End of tenancy cleaning can be used in two ways. If you are based in a city, or an area like London that has a lot building works happening then this will be a very large chunk of business that you can rely on to keep you going if you can gain the right contacts. Builders leave a lot of mess when doing building works in peoples houses, some more than others, and some jobs cause more mess, and therefore need more cleaning than others. If you are able to gain contracts with building companies, then you can gain a lot of business from going to each and every building job that they do, and clean up after they have finished their work. If you are able to get two or three large building contracts, then that should be enough work on its own for a medium sizes cleaning company.

Pub Cleaning

Pub cleaning is a great type of contract to gain, as the hours are normally pretty good, you can usually go and start working in a pub at about 8am – 10am as doors regularly do not open until 11am in most pubs across the country.

If you think that you are able to gain some of the above works, and you think that being a commercial cleaning company owner is appealing to you, then give it a try first by going to work for a small cleaning company and you will get to see what it is like to work in the environment.

If you still feel that it is right, then start off by gaining some clients from the fields above, and if you do, start off small by doing the work yourself, and as you gain more clients, then take on more people, and slowly grow your cleaning business at a speed that is comfortable to you. Don’t feel that you have to accept work if you cant handle it, as bad press spreads quicker than good.

Slow Computer? Fixing the Boot and Why You Should not Use Msconfig to Edit the Startup Files

The quickest way to see what loads at startup, is to run the MSConfig utility. MSConfig is a troubleshooting utility that lets you edit .INI files, services and startup files. While not documented in Windows help, it is explained in the online Windows XP Resource Kit. You must have Administrator’s rights to use the MSConfig utility.

To run MSConfig, click on Start/Run and type in MSConfig and enter. Clicking on the Startup tab will show you all the programs loading at start-up.

However, don’t utilize msconfig to disable startup applications. Though it functions as a basic startup manager, msconfig shouldn’t be used to alter your PC’s auto-start programs, because by doing that:

- you change the registry where there are services that are necessary for hardware and booting. Once you uncheck a service in msconfig, you disable it entirely.

- while disabled with msconfig, programs may not be uninstalled properly and orphaned entries often will be left behind.

- switching back to normal startup mode, the orphan entries can result in boot up errors.

- msconfig does not list all applications loaded in all possible startup locations, some entry points are hidden and unknown to the user.

- msconfig does not allow the complete removal of disabled entries from its list.

It is far better to use a startup manager. You can download quite a few managers and use for free. You can try out Mike Lin’s Startup Control Panel, Autoruns and Starter by CodeStuff. In any of these programs, If you untick an entry it will no longer run at startup. This will allow you to experiment and see how your system performs with any of them disabled.

But, first things first. Before you attempt any changes to the startup configuration it is wise to create a restore point which you can fall back on if an unforeseen problem arises.

Click on Start – Help and Support.

Click on the System Restore menu.

Select Create a restore point and click Next

Enter a name for the restore point and click on Create

The restore point has been created. Click Close.

Now you are sure that you have a point you can fall back to if you run into any problems altering your startup.

From a clean start, you can add back files, such as antivirus and firewalls that run at boot time. A major problem with editing the startup is knowing which files you need or not. Usually you can get an idea of what a file is by looking at the ‘command’ or ‘location’ column. The command is the actual executable file, including any options or switches, used to start a file. For example, the startup item ‘eventsrc’ has a command that shows us that it is in the Real folder, so we know it’s associated with the RealMedia player. The location shows where the command is executed from, usually from a registry key, or the Windows Startup folder.

If you don’t know what the file is or does, the Sysinfo.org startup list is a database of known files that you may encounter. When you find a file in the startup list you don’t know, for example, “eventsvc”, look it up in the database. But the database has many entries and the easiest way I found to identify these programs was to google them.

Now when you’re all done and you have disabled the uneccessary programs running at startup, your system should be booting faster and trouble free.

Now that you have partially fixed the slow boot, you can carry on with the process of fixing your slow computer.

To really speed up your slow computer you need to:

- Remove unused applications.

- Clean your browser’s history, temp data and your Favorite or Bookmark list.

- Optimize the Windows Registry

- Scan for and remove threats like viruses, malware etc.

- Take some more measures to make the boot process faster.

- Keep those startup apps you’ve disabled from reloading into the startup.

- Free your PC’s memory whenever possible.

- Schedule your cleanup programs to run automatically.

- Place all your data files together in one easy to use location.

- Defrag and organize your disks so that your most used files are in the fast lane.

- Optimize, tune and tweak your PC for optimal speed and stability.

I have researched and tested several products over a period of several months and in order for me to get our slow PC’s performance up to speed again, I made use of not less than 17 different products, each of which is designed to do a certain task on the computer. Eventually we ended up using 11 of these apps (all freeware) on a regular basis which keeps our PC’s performing clean and error free.

In forthcoming articles I’ll explain to you in detail, how to clear out forgotten programs, unused, unnecessary and junk files and how to clean and streamline the Windows registry.

How to Stretch Your Travel Dollar

Even if you are on a budget, traveling is possible. Vacationing when your funds are limited can be a challenge, but there still many locations that you can visit. You do not have to sacrifice quality while on your vacation. Here are some tips to stretch your travel dollar:

Tip #1: Schedule your vacation during the off-season.

When is the off-season? That depends on your destination. For a ski resort, you can get a cheaper price if you travel there during the summer, while a beach house in New Jersey is usually cheaper during the winter months. Even tropical locations have off-seasons, which usually occur during rainy times of the year. When you travel during the off-season, you may have to deal with less than perfect weather, but that does not affect indoor activities like visiting museums and going to the spa, and you may end up saving hundreds of dollars.

Tip #2: Fly on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Even if you do not have flexibility with your month of travel, making it possible to travel during the off-season, try to have a little flexibility with your specific dates. Flights are always more expensive on weekends, because that is when most people want to travel. If you can switch your dates, you can save $50 to $100 on most tickets – and sometimes even more, depending on the airline.

Tip #3: Skip the car rental and purchase a bus pass.

Tip #6: Participate in a home trading program.

Who says you have to go somewhere to enjoy vacation time? Take some time off from work and enjoy local attractions. You do not have to travel or pay for a hotel, so you can save a lot of money. You can still enjoy near-by museums and restaurants that you would typically write off as too pricey and relaxing time at beaches or spas near your home. If you are really on a budget, you can even forgo expensive activities and instead rent some movies, borrow some books from the library, or enjoy a dip in the local pool.

Install Laminate In Your Home

There is a new and beautiful alternative to natural hardwood floors and that is laminate wood flooring. Laminate wood flooring resembles natural hardwood floor but is available at a much lower cost. Recent improvements in the quality of materials have yielded laminate floors that are extremely durable as well as beautiful. Some laminate floors are virtually impossible to distinguish from hardwood floors. Laminate floor offer a very wide choice in colors and styles. You can have laminate floor that looks like hardwood, of course, and they are now available in styles that look like ceramic tile. Once the floor is in, make sure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning. Lightly dusting or vacuuming will remove surface dirt, and if you have a stain, clean with a damp mop. That’s about all the care laminate floors require, since you do not have to wax laminate floors.

When you do wash the floor, use only a slightly damp mop. Too much water can damage the coating, and letting water sit on it may damage the paper backing, since moisture will become trapped. Trapped moisture may cause mold in addition to damaging the laminate. Since bathrooms typically have a lot of moisture, it is not recommended that laminate floors be installed there, since the constant moisture will damage it.

good cleaning schedule?

Does anyone have a good cleaning schedule for house cleaning ? I have looked online and there really is not much, and some of the ones are really goofy like saying you can do dishes once a week but do windows every 2 weeks ? come on I do my dishes 1 or 2 times a day and windows when they get dirty but anyone got suggestions for dusting and other chores ?

I clean the public areas on Mondays: Living room, family room, dining room and hall. I clean
in the kitchen every day, and the bathrooms get attention every day as well–I do a swish–swish the toilet brush in the toilet–and swipe–hit all the surfaces with wipe–daily in the bathrooms.

I do errands on Tuesday and Thursday, as those are the days I drop the kids at school, and if not exhausted, I deep clean the bathrooms in the afternoons T and TH.

Laundry is every day, at least one load, and 2 on stay at home days.

Wednesday is project day: Like cleaining the laundry room, washing all the china in the dining room, windows, whatever. I just kind of go by what I whink needs it next, I don’t have a schedule
for that.

Fridays I do a quick dust and vac before the weekend, and I try to clean one kitchen cabinet shelf or drawer every week, and one drawer in a bedroom.

Saturdays are family Fun days, and Sundays are church and homework days. Sometimes I help one of the kids with their room on Sunday afternoon.

If we all pick up after ourselves daily, about 10 minutes, tops, it never gets too bad.

How do I find motivation and energy to get some much needed house cleaning done?

I really want to clean up my house, but I’m so not interested in it. I’ve got organizing and sorting to do. I just can’t seem to get my head wrapped around getting up and doing it all. Oh, yeah and its been like a year since I last did anything that qualified as cleaning.

Ask someone you trust to help you get organized. It sounds like you are overwhelmed. Asking for help can be embarrassing but there must be someone you can ask. The trick is to take it one task at a time but that can be hard to do too. Try to pick someone you trust that can teach you the basics of organizing without being judgemental.
