Carpets are a great way to deck up your home. It not only prevents your home from getting dirty but at the same time lends an elegant look to your home. But when you have kids and pets at home, your carpets will obviously get dirty. There are lot many carpet cleaning tips that have been doing its rounds more than often in your house. But before opting for any carpet cleaning tip make sure you consider certain points carefully:

First of all, determine what caused the stain on your carpet and how strong is the stain. Accordingly vacuum clean your carpets on a regular basis. Shampooing the carpets once a week will also serve the purpose well. This will help you maintain the beauty of the carpets for long. It’s not that tough a job so you can very well choose to do it yourself. For this you will require purchasing a steam cleaning unit. Some even prefer for carpet cleaning rentals.

DIY carpet cleaning is gaining popularity nowadays. If you work diligently, then great results aren’t far away. If you are using any carpet cleaning machine, then make sure you go slow enough to remove as much moisture as possible. If excess moisture is retained within the carpet then it can cause great damage to the health of the carpet.

Hiring a professional will be your best option if you are not confident on your cleaning skills. The professional carpet cleaners can actually make an old carpet regain its new look.

When deciding on a particular carpet cleaning tip, you should also decide on which cleaning agents work best for your carpets. The cleaning products should not be only used for rinsing the carpets with water but also breaking down the dust particles to such an extent that the carpet looks spanking clean.

I would call a competitor and ask what their specials are. Find out if they charge by the room, the job or what. Your prices seem fair to me. Once you know what others are charging you can be more competitive. In fact hiring a competitor to clean your house may be good research for you and if you watch and take notes it could be great training. Write it off as a business expense. Good Luck

Whether you think about it or not, your body is extremely busy every day, there are thousands of processes at work for everything you do in your average day’s activities. For that reason, your body needs a tune up, just as your car would! You should regularly detoxify your body and clean your entire internal network.

If you have not heard about detoxification before, it is a process that makes sure all the systems in your body are in good working condition. A successful detoxification will make sure all your body’s 7 elimination systems are cleansed. Those 7 systems are the kidneys, colon, liver, lungs, blood, skin and lymphatic system.

Here are some tips on detoxification.

Change your Diet. There’s no way to cleanse your body out if you are busy putting new toxins in it. Therefore make sure you are taking in a healthy diet. A high-fiber diet can help suck up the toxins already in your system and remove them from your body, so you should eat more items high in fiber such as vegetables, fruits, beans whole grains and nuts. Also drink a lot of water so your body can easily go through the cleansing process.

Use Herbs to Cleanse. Herbal remedies have been around for centuries. Almost 5,000 years ago, Sumerians used herbs for bodily cleansing, and the process has continued over the years. Holistic healers have about 25 herbs that they advise regularly using for detoxification. There are two categories of cleansing herbs – purification herbs for cleaning the organs, and revitalizing herbs for organ strengthening.

Sweat out the Toxins. What is your body’s largest organ? If you didn’t guess the skin, it may have been because you didn’t realize the skin was an organ. But it is. The skin is an organ that regularly eliminates from the body though the pores in the skin. The skin also works in conjunction with the lymphatic system, being the conduit that allows the toxins to be released when you sweat. A sauna or steam bath can help our skin speed up the process.

Colon Cleansing. Your colon is regularly asked to remove an array of toxins and other waste products from the body. A colon hydrotherapy program is a way to give your colon a clean bill of health. Water therapy not only cleanses the colon, but can also promote digestive health by keeping the digestive tract free of irritations.

Vitamins. The better shape your body is in, the more capable it is to get rid of toxins in the system. For this reason you should make sure you are getting enough of the vitamins your body needs, including vitamins A, B, C, E, as well as zinc.

Exercise. In order to remove some of the toxins from your lungs, you should try deep breathing exercises that will bring more oxygen in and send toxins out.

Shopping for the perfect treadmill can be overwhelming for most buyers. The home treadmill has experienced substantial growth over the past few years. Treadmills are a big investment both financially and in your fitness, so much thought and preparation should go into your purchase of a new treadmill.

A few treadmill models, which have rollers, are powered by the user rather than a motor. Treadmill belt widths generally range from 17″ to 22″ and lengths from 51″ to 61″. Always choose a belt width that’s at least of 16 ” ands long enough to accommodate your stride.

The console indicates the belt speed and other factors, such as heart rate, miles per hour, and distance. Most treadmills come with an electronic console that displays workout feedback such as speed, distance traveled, time you’ve been working out, and calories burned. Safety features on a treadmill are especially important if you plan to work out alone or if you have small children who might accidentally start up the treadmill.

One of the key things to remember is that the larger motors tend to run cooler and usually require less repair and maintenance. Display panels should be easy to read and straightforward to operate. People, who don’t have enough room for a bulky exercise machine, may want to consider a folding treadmill; they collapse and allow for easy storage.

The newest models of treadmills come with many extra features you may not need. Adjustable inclines let you vary the steepness of a hill.

When you’re reading treadmill ratings or treadmill reviews, they’ll usually cover safety statistics, the heart rate monitor, the various merits of the interactive model and computer fitness programs and levels. The first thing to consider when shopping for a home treadmill is what you need it to do for you. It’s definitely possible to find a good model that’s not very popular, but is still a good buy.

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty treadmill that can withstand running as well as walking, be prepared to spend more money. A major consideration when buying a treadmill is how the machine is constructed. Most manufacturers of commercial treadmills found in gyms and health clubs also produce home versions.

A noisy treadmill can upset other family members or roommates and your neighbors if you live in a duplex, apartment or condominium. The taller a person is the longer their stride so you’ll need to choose a treadmill with a longer and wider belt. When your equipment is up and running, get the right lubricants and cleaners to take good care of it.

Did I mention to make sure to check out the warranty fine print? This is very important.

Noise from the smallest repetitive sound can drive you nuts over a period of time and give you another excuse not to exercise.

Once you’ve decided on the treadmill that you think is right for you, make sure to compare prices online with several different manufacturers. The more incline variation offered in a treadmill unit, the more expensive the model will be.

More and more people every day are choosing to get healthier; the majority of beginning exercisers start out by just walking or jogging. If you have severe problems with your legs, a treadmill may not be the best choice of home exercise equipment for you. Treadmills are known to provide one of the best ways to improve cardiovascular fitness. To get even more workouts, think about making your treadmill into a walking, working office by adding a mini-platform to the side rails.

By following the above tips and tricks you’re sure to find the best treadmill for you. And remember, home exercise treadmills are a large investment financially and in your fitness; much thought and preparation should go into the purchase of any new treadmill. Buying a treadmill is an excellent investment for getting into shape, understanding of course, that you do use it.

Make Your PC Run Fast Again By Scheduling A Regular Tune Up:

Your computer is just like a fine race car! Both must be expertly maintained to run at their optimum speed and performance levels. Unlike a formula 1 racer however, your PC is relatively easy to fine-tune, and we will guide you through the process with simple step-by-step instructions.

Initial tune-up

After getting all the programs setup on your PC the way you want, there are a few tasks that will help you get the most out of your system. The following maintenance tasks should be performed initially and will form the basis of a solid tune-up program for your PC:

1. Install and Update your Antivirus & Anti Spyware software:

The last thing you need is a computer virus ruining your day by infecting your computer and either destroying valuable data, or spreading your personal information all over the internet! We cannot stress enough the importance of making sure you have a solid and reliable Anti-Virus program installed on your computer.

Spyware and Adware is almost an even bigger problem these days than Computer Viruses! If you have ever downloaded anything online, music, books, files, etc…or if you have ever installed downloaded programs on your computer, chances are you have multiple spyware infections.

Pop-up windows and windows error messages are a prime indicator of Spyware and Adware infections on your computer.

Spyware is a hidden software program created to steal your personal information, and report back to their creators with anything from your online browsing habits and patterns, to your stored credit card numbers! identity theft is a growing problem, propagated in part by Spyware!

2. Update your software and drivers

Make sure your computer has the latest video, hardware and software drivers it needs to run at optimum speed and efficiency. We recommend that Microsoft Windows Update be used on a consistent basis. Microsoft and other hardware and software manufacturers will regularly post updated drivers and fixes for their products. Most vendors use the Windows Update tool to distribute their updates.

The Windows Update tool can be accessed on your computer by clicking Start, right-click My Computer, and select Properties.

Click the Automatic Updates tab, and select Keep my computer up to date.

Keeping Windows updated can solve many errors you may experience.

3. Defragment your hard drive

Defragmenting your hard drive is an easy task that will improve your system’s speed and performance (especially noticeable with larger programs).

As you install and uninstall different software programs, data becomes scattered across your hard drive in various areas. This results in your computer taking a longer amount of time to find data it needs, which makes your system run slower. This holds true even after installing a new program on your computer.

Starting Disk Defragmenter

Using Disk Defragmenter is easy and once started will work without the need to monitor the process. Depending on the size of your hard drive and the amount of fragmented files defragmentation of your files can take up to several hours to complete. Follow the procedures below to start defragmenting your hard drive.

* 1. Shut Down all programs that are running. including background programs and screensavers.
* 2. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, then System Tools.
* 3. Click Disk Defragmenter. Follow the onscreen instructions. If Disk Defragmenter starts itself over and over, then a hidden background program is still accessing the hard drive. Restart the computer in Safe mode and try again.

4. Create a Backup Or Restore Point Regularly On Your Computer

A Virus, Spyware or other bug could easily wipe out your data without chance of recovery! Make sure you are regularly backing up any data you don’t want to lose (burning it to disk is an easy and cost effective way of backing up important data).

Microsoft offers a Data Backup to automate the process, A virus or software bug could wipe out data without any chance of recovery. Devise a strategy for backing up your files now. Any important data that you do not want to lose should be backed up regularly. This can be done in any of a number of ways. Simply write the files to a floppy diskette, USB drive, or a CD-R. You might also consider using RecordNow!’s System Backup or Microsoft’s Data Backup to automate the backup process.

5. Clean Your Computer Registry Regularly

If you’re running any version of Windows on your computer, then you have a Windows registry. This Windows Registry is where all the information about your computer is stored. The registry includes installation data about the software you run and all of your computer’s preferences, settings, and registry keys. Everything about your computer is essentially stored in your windows registry.

Over time, as you install new programs, delete others, and use your computer, the Windows Registry grows. Sometimes you will get errors when you start your computer. In extreme instances you will experience computer freeze-ups and possibly even system crashes. Your computer can start running ’slower’ as well, which makes for annoying and time consuming ‘hang’ times, where you essentially stare at your monitor in a trance, waiting for control of your mouse cursor to be restored to you once again!

Fortunately, there is an easy solution to Registry build-up. You need to run a registry cleaner tool on a regular basis (depending on computer usage). This software will scan your Registry to find the unnecessary data and delete it…the end result should be a computer that runs as fast as the day you brought it home!

RECOMMENDED: Put Your Computer Tune Up Schedule On Auto Pilot by downloading and running our recommended Free PC Optimizer: RegCure.

Things parents can do to help reduce the costs of car insurance for teens:

According to a 2004 study released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly a third of all traffic-related fatalities are represented by teenagers. Further studies have shown that teen drivers are far more likely to commit errors behind the wheel, make poor decisions, and drive at unsafe speeds than any other age group. This is the main reason why car insurance companies attach high premiums to teen policyholders. Their business model is based upon risk management strategies, and teenage drivers clearly represent a significantly higher level of risk.

Fortunately, there are steps that parents can take in order to reduce their teen’s auto insurance rates. Below, you’ll learn 5 ways to control the costs of car insurance for teens while helping to ensure that your teenager also remains safe on the road.

#1 – Watch Their Grades

Auto insurers use profiles to determine the potential risk of underwriting a policy. Good grades usually reflect responsibility and good decision-making skills. As a result, carriers often reward teens – and their parents – with a rate reduction. Each insurance company has varying guidelines regarding discounts on premiums for good grades. Ask your car insurance company about their GPA requirements.

#2 – Encourage Traffic School

Teenage drivers tend to speed, attracting more than their fair share of traffic tickets. Unfortunately, traffic tickets cause their insurance rates to rise. The good news is that their driving record can remain clean if they agree to attend traffic school (if/when the judge offers them the option). However, left to their own devices, a lot of teenagers will avoid spending an entire Saturday in class. Make sure they attend. Not only will it give them the opportunity to reflect on their mistake, but a clean record helps keep premiums manageable.

#3 – Choose A Practical Car

Your 16-year-old son may want a red Corvette, but buying one for him will likely cause his insurance rates to rise. Car insurance companies consider teenagers with sports cars to represent a higher potential risk than otherwise. Opt for a 4-door vehicle that is safe to drive, fuel efficient, and comes equipped with safety features (i.e. airbags). Your teenager’s insurance premiums will be lower.

#4 – Add Them To Your Policy

It’s usually more cost-effective to add your son or daughter to your family car insurance policy than it is to open a new policy for them. If you can have them categorized as a “part-time” driver, you’ll enjoy lower rates. Carriers consider full-time teenage drivers as a higher risk; the premiums will reflect that increased risk.

#5 – Cultivate The Right Attitude

Despite what a lot of parents think, their teenagers often become involved in traffic collisions because of their attitude toward driving, not a lack of skills. Young adults develop a sense of invulnerability. As a result, they often neglect to drive safely. This lack of concern while behind the wheel leads to traffic tickets and accidents.

Ride along with them. Take note of their driving skills, decision-making ability, and attitude. If you can nurture the right perspective in your son or daughter, they’re more likely to drive safely and keep their record clean. And remember, a clean driving record leads to lower car insurance premiums.

Parents, Teenagers, and Premiums

Teenage drivers are at an immediate disadvantage. They’ve already been profiled by auto insurers as a high-risk group and are instantly saddled with higher insurance rates. That said, parents can take a few savvy steps in order to help manage the costs. By encouraging good grades, traffic school (when available), buying a practical car, and adding them to a family policy, they can keep the premiums at a reasonable level. Finally, they should invest time to cultivate the right attitude toward driving. By doing these 5 things, parents can significantly lower their – and their kids’ – auto insurance rates.

Perhaps it’s time to take a look around your house to see if it’s a good idea to start cleaning up the house. After all, a clean house is an eco friendly house. What does that mean? Well, that means when you clean and organize the stuff in your house, not only can you help save the environment, you can also save money. So what does eco friendly has to do with saving money?

The problem with most homeowners is that they are not aware that there are existing resources in their own home that can be reused or recycled. For example, papers may be lying around the house, used only on 1 side. They can actually be used on both sides. And when less paper is used, more trees are saved, and the homeowners save more money by spending less on paper. So the key here is to be sensitive to the use of resources around the house. Here are some tips on how to start converting your home to an eco friendly house.

The first step to take is to clean up the house. Start by creating 4 different piles – one for paper, one for glass, one for plastic, and one for metal. Organize your items according to these 4 categories. If there are many items in your house, the process may take some time.

After that, you will need to spend more time sorting through the 4 stacks of items. Here is when you decide which items to keep and which items to dispose of. Again, bear in mind that there are items that can be reused. Pick them out, and put them aside.

For items that you want to get rid of, don’t mix them up again. Keep them within their own respective categories, and pack them nicely into boxes and trash bags. There is more you need to do.

Once your house is in shape, you may start locating a recycling facility near you. The recycling center don’t have to be located in your area. You just need to find out where the drop off points are. Usually, there are many drop off points in every area, and there should be one that is convenient for you. If you like, you can always call up a recycling facility to find out if there are any drop off points that are near to you.

Another alternative is to find out if your current garbage collector has an existing arrangement with a recycling center. If so, you can let them collect your recyclable items as per normal. That way, you don’t have to worry about making extra trips to drop off points.

Keep the compartments that you have initially created – paper, plastic, glass and metal. As and when there is disposable but recyclable materials, just throw them in the right compartment. When the compartments are full, empty them and start the process all over again. That way, your house will always be eco friendly.

As many of you know, I follow, read and comment on over 30 discussion forums on a daily basis. It seems that one of the more frequent points of discussion and questions today centers around backsplashes and the many choices available today. Apart from all the elements of kitchen design such as faucets, flooring, cabinetry and appliances, another choice to make to improve your kitchen space is the backsplash. Backsplashes are positioned behind the stove and/or sink to make these wall surfaces more durable and easier to keep clean, but today backsplashes do more than protect, they can also serve as a design element bringing character, color, and style to your kitchen. Here are some of the choices to consider today:
1. Paint
Probably the oldest and least expensive way to decorate your backsplash is to simply paint the area. If paint is your choice you should make sure you use a durable paint that will not fade, peel or crack under the stress of heat, grease and constant cleaning. High performance paint will resist stains and require only a wipe with water and mild soap although you can scrub away if you like. High quality paints are often antimicrobial fighting mildew and mold, perfect for all kitchen spaces. Paint can truly transform your walls and protect them as well. All you have to do is choose the color that works best for you and your décor. Additionally you might choose to decorate the painted surfaces with stenciling, striping or other embellishments to make the painted backsplash uniquely yours. If you are concerned with the ultimate durability in the prime areas behind the stove and sink you can cover the painted surfaces with a thin plate of clear plastic such as lexan or glass as I will discuss further down.
2.Ceramic Tile
Glazed ceramic tiles as a backsplash are stronger and obviously easily kept clean. Possibilities are limited only by the vast number of choices available on the market today, choices of colors, textures, and styles. Tiles must be grouted and grout is comes in several color options as well as considering the width of the grout line. Choosing a grout which matches your tile color creates a classic look, where choosing a grout which stands out from your tile color will have a much different effect generally creating a more bold appearance. Depending on your style, grout may be an important consideration. You may choose just to tile behind the stove and sink and maybe just above the countertop edge to make it easier to clean then paint above this saves you time and money and can create yet another look. You can also choose from a huge selection of hand painted tiles and tiles with distinct textures and shapes. You are not locked into the idea of just color or flirting with the danger of making your kitchen look like it is a part of the bathroom. Tiles may be rough or smooth, some can have a more matte finish where others will be sheen and tiles may also not have the same color qualities.
3.Glass Tile
Currently the most popular choice for backsplash materials is glass tiles. Glass tiles can resemble ceramic tiles but are made from glass, many times recycled, and have a transparent or opaque appearance as opposed to the solid color of ceramic. These tiles are available in clear, frosted, linear or iridescent finishes and can even be slip proof for floors. Glass is actually incredibly durable and non-porous making glass a perfect choice for the kitchen and because as I mentioned previously can be made from recycled glass adding an additional “green” element. The downside of glass is that these tiles can be very tricky to cut and very expensive. Installing glass kitchen backsplash tiles is very similar to installing ceramic only your choice of grout color is very important. Since most glass tiles are translucent, imperfections in your grouting job will show through the tile. Since these tiles are translucent, their color will also be affected by your grout color choice therefore it is recommended to use a white grout so that the true color of the tile will show through. Glass 1×1 mosaic tiles are quite expensive running at approximately $30 per sq. ft. where larger glass tile sheets are less. One way to include glass into your backsplash design without blowing your budget is to use smaller glass mosaic boarder sheets. These sheets combine well with ceramic or stone tiles or work well by themselves when applied to a painted backsplash surface.
4.Solid glass or lexan/clear plastic
Another option for kitchen backsplashes is solid glass or lexan panes. Solid pieces of clear or colored glass or plastic can be use to create a luminous like effect. Solid glass can be quite expensive and will show dirt and grime easier however this surface is very easy to keep clean as it is seamless. The lexan may be a less expensive option but is still not cheap.
5.Wall paper
Wall paper has become sort of passé in today’s home what with all of the choices of faux painting and textured surfaces. Call me old fashioned, because after all I am old, but I still like wallpaper and the many designs and colorful choices that it offers. For many years durable vinyl wallpaper was consider the best choice for the backsplash areas and even still can be a great choice in conjunction with the glass/lexan option. Putting a wallpaper under the glass panels can add an additional layer of texture and color to your kitchen.
Metallic Backsplashes
6.Stainless Steel, virtually any sheet metal can be formed into a beautiful kitchen backsplash, but some are much more popular than others. The trendiest product in the backsplash market today is Stainless steel. A 100% recyclable and flexible product which can easily fit into irregular corners and angles Stainless steel is incredibly durable and resists heat and corrosion and since it can be installed seamlessly, this backsplash is incredibly easy to clean and is therefore a hygienic material for the kitchen. Although stainless steel is an attractive material on its own, today this product has been transformed into many different textures, patterns, and finishes resulting in many available choices. Stainless steel backsplashes of course look best when combined with stainless steel appliances, steel counters and backsplashes with hardwood cabinetry. A warning though, just like stainless steel appliances or countertops, the backsplash made of stainless steel can be VERY expensive.
7. Copper, as a backsplash is a way to add warmth and beauty to your kitchen. Like stainless steel, copper is a very durable and flexible product that can be installed seamlessly or in tiles. Copper backsplashes are also available in several styles, textures, patterns and finishes. They can be finger print and tarnish free! Like stainless steel, prepare yourself for financial shock when you get the estimate.
8. Countertop surface can be the simplest choice. You may opt to simply continue the countertop surface, i.e. formica, granite etc onto the backsplash. Some may think of this as lacking in creativity and lack the color and texture contrast but may be easier to accomplish.

By incorporating backsplashes into your kitchen, you can add your own unique style imprint on your work space and improve the design style. You will not regret putting the extra time or money into the backsplash as the results will leave your kitchen looking unique and beautiful.

Apple Cider Vinegar contains tannins, which condition the wood.

Once in a while I also add a teaspoon or two of Lemon Oil to the mixture…but you could use just about any Essential Oil, or even baby oil. If you do add oil, stir the mixture often to keep the oil mixed.

I tried Murphy’s Oil soap, but it left a dull residue, so I switched to this method after hearing about on HGTV.

I live in Orange County California area and I am wondering how much it cost these days to get a cleaning service for a 2600 sq ft 4 bedroom house
Anyone care to share how much they pay for by weekly or monthly

Your question reminded me something i read about how California was like one of the states where theres good service for house cleaners and what not to clean other’s houses.

If you are willing to pay weekly/monthly instead just a daily fee [really theres no need to have your house professionally cleaned each day, yet some cleaning services vary by how many times they will clean your home], have you considered getting a full time butler??? Yes i read that there are still some around, and knowing since you are somewhat near Beverly Hills, it might not be that difficult to find one, or get someone who has a butler to let them refer you to an "agency" [or however they call it].

Things have changed now, so of course the prices are going to vary much from what you think considering you said "these days". Only way toreally know is to call the company you want to clean your house and just ask for the prices…then you can just choose whether or not to go with them or choose another service. Hope i helped some
