How do I clean out and speed up a Mac?

When I used to have a PC is was easy to defrag, reformat, amoungst other things. My Macbook has been running a little slow and I don’t know how to "clean house".
My Macbook has:
- 2Ghz Intel Core Duo Processor
- 2GB RAM 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
- Mac OS X Version 10.4.10

    Usually adding more RAM will do the trick.
    Or you can use Disk Utility. Generally because OS X doesn’t have a registry to get cluttered up it doesn’t need defragging.
    How much RAM has you got?
