the slower the better, you get a more accurate and consistent burn, which makes it more compatible for playback on other dvd players

it may be your media…not all media works in some DVD drives…could be a dirty drive head…clean it. I assume your writing to a RW disc? That would be top speed for that writer. You could request in the software program that it verifies data before writing. This takes a bit longer but does give better results. If all else fails drop it down to 4x and see what happens. I only have one LG and i have no problems so far..all my other burners are Samsung..not a miss in over 200 burns! But Samsung seem to be very slow in shiping out burners at present no new ones are on the market.
